Due to the nature of equine adoptions, no adoption made with Second Stride Inc. has a refundable fee, warranty period, or any obligation to accept previously adopted horses in exchange or trade-in free of charge. We try hard to provide as much information as possible about each horse's physical and mental state prior to adoption, but we advise adopters to vet check a potential horse prior to adopting to be sure it is suitable.  We do agree to help network and place any horse adopted from Second Stride that does not suit the adopter's needs if the adopter does not want to sell privately. We will take previously adopted horses back into our program on a priority basis free of charge, as space permits. We are not liable for any known or unknown defect in an adopted horse.

ALL HORSES ADOPT ON A "FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED" BASIS WITH PRIORITY TO THOSE WITH APPROVED APPLICATIONS ON FILE.

Give Your Rescued Horse a Chance to Shine

The 2011 GAHAC is open to horses adopted or purchased between August 30th 2010 and February 1st 2011. Horses may have been adopted (no limit on adoption fee for 501c registered groups) or purchased privately from auction houses for $600 or less.

The IPHDA (International Performance Horse Development Association) is organizing the GAHAC competition and will be using their virtual show format. There will be 3 divisions offered: Open, Amateur and Novice.

The exhibitors will be required to perform 2 events, the first will be a PHD test (visit www.iphda.com to download the pattern), the second test will feature any equestrian competition the horse shows an aptitude for: jumping a course, riding a dressage test, running a barrel pattern, negotiating a series of trail obstacles, completing a reining pattern, performing a Natural Horsemanship game, etc.

IPHDA is donating the initial $1000 in the purse and will obtain promoting partners to assist in spotlighting the abilities and talents of a group of horses that just need a chance!

Any rescue group, shelter, or sale barn can register with IPHDA at no charge. IPHDA will maintain a list of horses available for adoption from rescue groups and registered auction venues on the IPHDA web site.

All money donated to the GAHAC will be split between the exhibitors and the participating rescue groups and shelters.

The GAHAC entries will be due March 2011, the competition will be judged and winners announced by April 15th 2011.

Visit IPHDA.com for complete rules.

If you would like to participate and or assist in organizing "Give a horse a Chance" you can contact info@iphda.com.
